Pumpkin Festival

Last weekend was the 6th annual Rock River Pumpkin Festival.  It is a fall festival that Southwest puts on for the community.  There are inflatables, pie making contests, a pulled pork lunch, games, and a pumpkin launch. This year the weather was beautiful and almost everyone from town came out to enjoy the fall festivities.

My parents had some meetings at Dordt on Friday so they traveled up to Edgerton Friday night and were around to go to the pumpkin festival with us on Saturday.  They helped baby-sit Caleb while I ran in the 5k pumpkin run that morning. I'm not in the same shape I was before having Caleb, but the run went well and I was happy with my time. It felt great to be able to run and not push a stroller.:)

Caleb bundled up on a cold day when I was training for the 5k.

Mom, Caleb, and I after the run. I think I got my love of running from her.

I couldn't quite convince John to run with me, so him and Caleb cheered me on. :)

After the run we headed to the soccer game to watch my cousin Jeremy play. Then we spent the afternoon walking around the pumpkin festival, and dad and John even got some yard work done around the house. It was a great Saturday spent enjoying the fall weather.
Our first family pumpkin festival picture. Caleb was not loving it.

My "top moments"

The last time I wrote a blog, I was traveling Europe during the semester I spent studying Spanish in Spain.  It is hard for me to think that my everyday, ordinary life in small town Minnesota is worthy of writing a blog about after my travels around the world.  But, since that semester I got married, moved to Edgerton, got my first teaching job teaching Spanish at SW, bought a house, and had a baby. Crazy how much can happen in a year and a half. God's timing sure has kept us on our toes. :) And I guess all those ordinary moments have turned out to be some of the top moments in my life, and that's probably worth writing down to remember. Oh, and my mom and sister bug me constantly to write a blog so they can read about Caleb and see pictures of him.:) So I will do my best  to document our "top moments" so my family and friends who live far away can see Caleb grow up.

For the first blog post, I'll just post two pictures of what have become our favorite moments since becoming parents to our adorably cute Caleb John.
